Overview
GFL Richmond MRF, with its state-of-the-art container sorting facility and fibre sorting facility, processes the source separated curbside, multi-family, and depot material collected in the Recycle BC program from around the province. Visitors will see the latest in sorting technology and how this world-class facility balances the inbound receipt of local curbside trucks, consolidated provincial loads, and local depot materials with the outbound shipment of processed commodities bound for domestic and overseas end markets.
Urban Impact MRF is another state-of-the-art sorting facility that processes single stream material for the Recycle BC program. Curbside and multi-family material that is collected across the province is either consolidated locally and brought to New Westminster or tipped directly at this MRF on a daily basis.
With the addition of new machinery and equipment to help maximize sorting efficiencies, you will be able to see how paper and containers are separated into the different commodities that will be shipped for domestic and overseas end markets.

Overview
The Ellen Macarthur Foundation (EMF) estimates that, for at least 20% of plastic packaging, reuse models offer economically attractive business opportunities. However, EMF’s Global Commitment 2021 Report notes alarmingly little investment in the reduction of single-use packaging: less than 2% of their signatories’ plastic packaging is reusable.
What needs to be true to realize the potential for widespread adoption of reusable packaging systems?
This webinar will address this question with insights from diverse global actors on key issues of user experience (including affordability), system standardization, and the role of public policy.
