In this webinar you’ll hear from Foodshare Toronto about what contributes to food injustice and inequality with examples of their programming that addresses food waste reduction, food literacy and healthy eating. And, how to incorporate a food justice lens into food product package development. FoodShare is an Ontario Food Collaborative community partner.
General Mills will share how they are taking steps to creating a more sustainable and nutritious packaged food supply.
This session will highlight the importance of packaging in helping to improve food sustainability and the role of the food industry in supporting sustainable farming practices.

Orlando Martín López Gómez (He/His/Him) Community Food Growing Senior Manager FoodShare TorontoOrlando oversees FoodShare’s food growing projects across the city – turning under utilized schoolyards, hydro corridors, and parks into vibrant and productive urban farms and community gardens. Orlando is passionate about food justice, and community leadership, and provides lots of resources and support for communities to design, implement, and run their own growing and composting projects. He is a trained agronomist with an incredible depth of knowledge in all aspects of growing food.

Kevin Burke Miller, PhD Principle Scientist General Mills’ Bell Institute of Health & NutritionKevin is the Nutrition team lead and developed the Sustainable Diets initiative for General Mills exploring the intersection between nutrition, agriculture, and packaged foods. Kevin is the current Chair of the Whole Grain Initiative, a global team of academic and industry scientist working to improve public health through healthier dietary lifestyles.
